Indian Gadget Awards: Nominees Best Consumer Selfie Phone 2021 – Redmi Note 10 Pro Max vs Others

With the emergence of social media services like Instagram and Snapchat, as well as the recent boom in video calling, a smartphone’s selfie camera no longer acts as a second fiddle to the device’s main sensor. Interestingly, while there is no shortage of selfie-centric flagships, this year also saw the launch of some stellar-first selfie devices in the affordable segment.

This is where the title Best Selfie Phone of 2021 – Mainstream of the Indian Gadget Awards 2021 comes into play, which highlights devices priced below Rs 20,000 that excel in taking self-portraits. As the country’s biggest tech prize, nearly 40 experts from India’s tech media fraternity will evaluate the phones. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the nominees.

Realme 8 Pro

Despite having a set of high-performance cameras on the back, the Realme 8 Pro’s selfie-shooter has managed to monopolize all the limelight. The 16MP selfie camera positioned at the top left of the phone captures stunning Instagram-ready photos that require little to no editing. The portrait mode edge detection capabilities of this phone are also worth appreciating. Additionally, Realme’s Super Nightscape feature is also available for the front camera, ensuring the quality of selfies don’t take a hit after sunset.

Redmi Note 10 Pro Max

The Redmi Note 10 Pro Max imposed itself in the competition at the time of its launch and for good reason. In fact, the phone is equipped with a 108MP camera, 120Hz display, Snapdragon 732G chip, and 5,020mAh battery while costing less than Rs 20,000. As if that weren’t enough, the device even has a 16 MP selfie camera that captures stellar selfies in all lighting conditions and offers attractive features like a dedicated night mode, panorama mode and, of course, portrait mode. The phone is a selfie lover’s delight simply because it takes clear, detailed, and vivid selfies every time.

The iQOO Z3 is considered by many to be a performance-oriented phone. However, the device also offers a reliable camera setup and is supported by a trio of rearward sensors comprising a 64 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultra wide-angle lens and a 2 MP macro unit. That said, much of the smartphone’s camera can be attributed to its 16MP selfie camera, which takes natural self-portraits with attractive detail. Its portrait mode also works great and in a nutshell, the smartphone is a godsend for selfie enthusiasts and vloggers alike.

Tecno Camon 17 Pro

The Tecno Camon 17 Pro selfie game is here. So much so that the smartphone comes with not one, but two high-resolution cameras, including a 64 MP main sensor and a 48 MP selfie shooter. Unsurprisingly, the device captures profusely detailed selfies and the color science of the front camera has been refined to bring out a user’s best features. Additionally, the phone’s camera also uses AI to identify ambient light and makes a lot of adjustments to ensure the face is the highlight of the shot.

Realme x7
Realme X7 review in 10 points

The Realme X7 comes with a 16MP selfie shooter with an f / 2.5 aperture lens. The phone’s camera manages to take detailed, feature-rich selfies with crisp skin tones. Its AI Beauty mode is subtle, and there’s even an HDR mode that captures great detail in the background. A dedicated portrait mode and Realme’s Super Nightscape mode round out the selfie features of this phone.

And that ends all nominees for Best Selfie Phone of 2021 – Mainstream. Be sure to come back here in a few days to see which one wins.
