Rockhounds will seek out fantastic discoveries

Some of the wonderful “Results” of the Rockhounds

As the weather warms, many members are aiming for the inner side of the hobby compared to the cooler months where lapidaries / rockhounds tend to go out and search for gemstone materials.

One of the great pleasures of the lapidary hobby is collecting a semi-precious stone and turning it into a colorful cabochon, then placing it in a silver jewelry or a pre-made jewelry. discovery.

The results can have many parts to make them attractive or they can be as simple as a bail which is attached to the back of a stone and connected with a chain to make a pendant.

Jewelry results are manufactured commercially and sold in Lapidary supply stores. There are countless conceptions in these results. They usually come in a gold or silver finish. When a cabochon is associated with a find, those finds are usually set at standard sizes. For example 40x30mm or 30mmx22mm as well as other sizes. There are commercial models that allow you to mark the size of the stone that will suit your discovery. It is always recommended that you purchase your find before carving your stone, as the stone can be matched to the find while you are grinding and polishing the stone.
